Synagogues are community projects. We rely on member contributions (what we call terumah) and from those who resonate with our approach.

There are many ways to support progressive, spiritual,
justice-pursuing Judaism in Metro Detroit.

Members: Be sure to select "Give to Membership" in the form below to make contributions towards your terumah (gifts from the heart) pledge.

Tend to T'chiyah
with a recurring gift...

T'chiyah is not a "closed system." While members shape and sustain communal life, they also share it — with friends, relatives, and kindred spirits of all stripes. Our participatory, progressive and whole-heartedly inclusive community is not meant for official members only. We delight in the fact that our cherished approach to Jewish life is enjoyed by fellow travelers who tag along periodically for Shabbat and High Holidays, parents who want to see what the fuss is about when visiting their kid in Detroit, and Michigander expats who cheer us on from afar.

Such kindred spirits have a role to play in our community sustainability. As we are not a closed system, we are not entirely self-sufficient. We depend on contributions from outside our membership to help us continue to function smoothly. That's where you come in: Can you or your loved one sign-up as a T'CHIYAH TENDER?

T'chiyah Tenders are friends, loved ones and fellow travelers whose recurring contributions sustain our synagogue. Just as a gardener might add fertilizer to catalyze new growth, your contributions help our community thrive.

Contributions at the $18/month rate or higher will receive some of the benefits of membership, such as early access to High Holiday registration and member discounts for select courses.

T'chiyah Tenders support our community to be robust, sustainable and economically accessible for all who seek it. Specifically, your contributions will be used to:

  • Improve the quality of our Zoom-based classes and livestreamed services by upgrading our computer and A/V hardware

  • Better serve the diverse families of Ferndale and beyond by creating children’s programs and family educational offerings that are responsive to their needs

  • Facilitate stronger connections between members by providing  funds for our Affinity Groups, such as LGBTQI+ T’chiyahniks, Jews of Color at T’chiyah, and more.

Contributions at the $18/month rate or higher will receive some of the benefits of membership, such as early access to High Holiday registration and member discounts for select courses.

Continue our progressive legacy:
Include T'chiyah in your estate plan or will

Our members agree: our progressive, participatory and whole-heartedly inclusive community is a unique and vital presence in Metro Detroit. Let's ensure that it is here for future generations of seekers, skeptics and justice-pursuers! We invite you to consider leaving a bequest to T’chiyah in your estate plan or will, to ensure that our beloved community grows along with your legacy.

If you have questions as to how to get started; the options you have; and the benefits to you, we can help. Contact Victoria Kohl at vikol123@yahoo.com for more info. Thank you for all you do for our congregation and community!
