Yoga at T'chiyah: alternating Sundays at 11:00 am
Join us for yoga with Bonnie Green, Registered Yoga Teacher and Reiki Master.
In the T'chiyah style of offering a variety of programs and Shabbat services, Bonnie will be offering different yoga styles on a biweekly basis.
1st class of the month: Gentle Movement
A class for beginners or anyone needing to move their bodies in a slow, extra mindful way. We will discuss using props to make this practice extra accessible, spotlighting one prop each class.
2nd class of the month will be one of the following:
Full Moon Flow: When the full moon shines, so do you! This class embodies that Big Moon Energy with an emphasis on moving with your breath (aka "Vinyasa"). Here, you will find lots of Sun (or Moon) Salutations, balancing poses, and space to explore yourself. Suitable for beginners and seasoned yogis alike.
Vin to Yin: This fusion class starts off with Vinyasa (dynamic movement with breath), and slows down to Yin about halfway through class. Yin poses are held for longer periods of time to stretch the muscles in the legs and hips, while also opening fascia/connective tissue. Open to all levels.
- RoCho Restorative: As Rosh Chodesh ("head of the month," aka the New Moon) approaches, we begin to slow things down. This Restorative class uses lots of props to create minimal to passive stretching. Poses are held for longer periods of time to allow for maximum relaxation. This class is for anyone and everyone that needs to rest and recharge.
*Yoga styles are subject to change based on moon phase, upcoming holidays, popularity, etc.
Classes will take place in the sanctuary at First United Methodist Church of Ferndale at 11:00 am on Sundays. Please bring your own mat and props, but we will have some extras to use if needed!
- Yoga block (1-2)
- Throw-size blanket
- Yoga strap, cloth belt, or necktie
- Yoga bolster or firm pillow
A little about Bonnie -
Bonnie Green, RDN, RYT-200, Reiki Master (she/they)
Bonnie’s yoga journey began when she was in elementary school, watching Jane Fonda’s yoga videos and doing yoga stretches in gym class. In her senior year of high school, she took an elective gym class that was really yoga in disguise! She fell in love with the practice as a way to destress and enjoy movement. Bonnie has been formally teaching yoga since 2019. She is currently working on her 500-hour yoga teacher training, where she's excited to learn how to teach prenatal yoga and yoga nidra. She is also a certified Yoga For All instructor - she advocates that yoga is for everybody and Every Body. Her favorite classes to teach are slow flows and restorative practices. She makes sure her classes are inclusive, accessible, and fun!
