High Holidays 2020! (Online Services)

✨ With gratitude, compassion and resilience in our hearts, we invite you to join us for our web-based, musical, interactive, traditional-but-experimental, justice-seeking High Holiday services! ✨

Can you believe it? Though the languor of summer's heat provides no hint of seasonal shift, the days are indeed slowly shortening. The round of the year, according to our ancient lunisolar Hebrew calendar, is coming to its conclusion -- and, therefore, its renewal.

The past year has been a whirlwind in so many ways. As the stirrings of a new year rumble in the midst of pandemic and popular uprising, the traditional notion of Rosh Hashanah as the birthday of a new world suddenly seems not-so-farfetched. The grave calls of Yom Kippur to reckon with mortality, loss and the precarity of our existence resound in new, profound ways. And of course, with all that is happening, we must turn to face ourselves and each other honestly: to hold ourselves and one another with tenderness and accountability as we strive to bend that fabled arc of the moral universe more and more towards justice...

Like all of our services, our High Holidays services are free, freeing and open to all — members and non-members alike. (And this year, we won’t have to worry about whether we’ll have enough chairs!) But we do ask that you use this moment to consider what kind of support you can offer our community, whether by joining the congregation, renewing your membership, or making a donation as part of the “Friends of T’chiyah Giving Circle.”
